Naked Batman

Nanananananananananana BATMAN!

This was Ian the other night, running throughout our house with a hooded towel on his head singing the theme song from batman...yes, naked as a j-bird. I had to be careful with the pics I chose to post, lol, but here are few of the non-revealing pics.

Ok...this next one shows a little bit more...but it's so stinkin cute, I couldn't resist. Boy, building up these blackmail pictures sure is fun! ;)

Phineas and Ferb

is Ian's favorite cartoon right now...and Jason and I love it as much as he does! We even have it Tivo'd so that we can watch it any time we want. The story line is the same in every episode, but it's so funny...here is the synopsis from wikipedia:

"Phineas and Ferb is an American animated television comedy series. Originally broadcast as a preview on August 17, 2007 on Disney Channel, the series follows two kindhearted suburban stepbrothers on summer vacation. Each day the boys do the same exact thing, often bringing them into conflict with their sister, Candace. The series follows a standard plot system; running gags occur every episode, and the B-Plot almost always features Perry the Platypus (A.KA. Agent P), acting as a secret agent to fight an evil scientist named Heinz Doofenshmirtz. The two plots intersect at the end to erase all traces of the boys' project just before Candace can show it to their mother."

If you've never watched it, you should check it out...it's hilarious!

Ian's first trip to the ER

Here is a pic that I took of Ian yesterday morning:
Yes, that is the bucket in the background that Ian had to use frequently over the last 2 days. Bless his heart. I think this is the most sick he has ever been. It all started Thursday when I picked him up from Holly's house. He felt warm when I picked him up. Holly said that she had given him some Tylenol but that he hadn't been himself and that he had been having chills that afternoon. Sure enough, when I got him home and took his temp, he had a fever of about 101.9. Yikes! No obvious symptoms though. So, I stayed home with him Friday. I took him to the dr Friday since I knew the weekend was coming. The dr said his throat was red and prescribed him some medicine. The next night however is when the fun started. He vomited around 7:30pm, 9:oopm, 11:00pm, midnight, 3:30am, 4:00am, 6:00am, and 9:00am. In between those times, (yes, we were in and out of his room just about every 30 mins...looooooong night)...I was giving him ice chips in hopes of avoiding dehydration. He was pitiful! Extremely lethargic. We were trying to give him Tylenol and Ibuprofen to keep his temp down, but he could not keep anything down. Sunday morning, he was begging for something to drink...so I attempted to give him some gatorade...and told him to take little sips. He did...and it came back up everytime. Bless him. Jason had to go on to church since he is filling in as the minister or music right now...but when he got home and Ian vomited AGAIN at noon, we decided it was time to take him somewhere. What had us most concerned was him complaining with his head Saturday night and again periodically throughout the night. All I could think about was meningitis or something worse. He just kept grabbing his head from time to time saying, "my head is freaking me out." Several times, while he was vomiting, he would say, "mommy, daddy, I'm so sorry...I'm a horrible boy." We would of course tell him, "no, Ian, you cannot help it...you're just sick...and it's ok, we still love you very much and are going to take care of you." He just kept saying, "This is horrible" or "This is terrible". Poor thing.

So, we headed to the ER, which is where I took this picture while we waited to be seen by the doctor:
The dr came in and checked him out. He had him tuck his chin to his chest. Since he was able to do that without pain, he said, "that's a good sign, we can rule out meningitis." Thank goodness! That is what I was fearing. The dr said he was dehydrated, but not overly. So, he prescribed him Zofran and let us go, telling us to continue to push fluids.

And here are 2 pics that I took of Ian tonight:

What a difference a day can make! He started turning a corner yesterday evening when we gave him jello, saltines, gatorade, and part of a banana...all of which he kept down. Then, last night, he slept ALL night!! We are so thankful for all the prayers and are SO thankful that our little man is feeling like himself again!

Not again!

Well, Ian's little sister is apparently going to follow in her big brother's footsteps...

When I was 30 weeks pregnant with Ian, I was hospitalized due to contractions. They gave me 2 shots of Terbutaline and were able to stop the contractions. I went home with a prescription of oral Terbutaline which I took until the end of my pregnancy and delivered Ian 5 days early.

With this pregnancy, I started noticing the Braxton Hicks contractions about 2 weeks ago...at 26 weeks. I know that Braxton Hicks are false contractions and that they are normal for this stage of pregnancy. But I also know that I shouldn't be having 7-8 within a 30 minute window which is what was happening last night. They have not only increased in frequency over the last 2 weeks, but have gotten stronger. Not painful...but definitely causing more pressure.

So, although I know that Braxton Hicks are normal, I also remember that it was about this time with Ian that I was hospitalized for true contractions. Around 10:30 last night, they slacked up some, so I decided to go on to bed and call first thing this morning.

I left a vm, and they called me back shortly. I explained what was going on and that I was just concerned that things may be thinning out. So, they told me to come on in and be checked. They listened for the heartbeat which was about 146 and then the dr came in an examined me. I was happy to find out that my cervix is still closed! He did say though that he could feel the baby putting pressure on the cervix. So, he sent me over for a vaginal u/s to check the cervical thickness. It was in the appropriate range for this stage (2-4 cm). Mine was 3.86 or something like that...so that was a good sign!

So, basically, all is well. She is head down and VERY active. He did prescribe me some oral Terbutaline to take as needed. I'll do whatever is necessary to make sure she doesn't come too early! We still have to name her! lol

JT at Milliken

I was walking down the hall in the University at Milliken the other day and saw this picture hanging on the wall.  Yes, if you look closely, you'll see a studious Jason Thomas in his Leadership Orientation Program (LOP) class when he first started at Milliken.

Sweet little bird

This little bird was in our backyard today walking around.  He/She has been trying to fly but just hasn't mastered it yet.  The mama sure didn't like me getting close to take a picture, that's for sure!  Thankfully, our backyard is fenced in and no doggies or cats were around!
