DR appt 2/23

I went to the dr last Tuesday and everything checked out well. Since you can't really hear the heartbeat with the doppler until you are 10 weeks, they didn't even try. No ultrasound either. Just an exam. However, the dr said that I was measuring around 8 weeks...which at the time, I was. I am now 9 weeks as of yesterday! Still some symptoms...and the nausea has unfortunately started. Not too bad...but definitely there. However, as weird as this sounds, I am actually thankful for the sign. It means things are still progressing. If I have to endure it until I can start hearing the heartbeat with the doppler at my appts., that is fine. Then, it can go away!

I don't go back until March 25th. However, the dr said I could come back when I was 10 weeks if I wanted to hear the heartbeat for peace of mind. I guess I'll hold off if I am still having other symptoms.

Believe it or not, I am starting to show already. Crazy! I'll be big as a house in July, Aug, Sept. Eeek! I know you show faster with your second...but I didn't expect to show at 2 months. Oh well, it's yet another sign that things are progressing, so I'll take it!

I think I am more tired this time...or maybe it's just because I have an almost 3 year old that I didn't have to chase around before. Either way, I just can't seem to stay awake. I am taking progesterone again this time around...as well as an 81mg aspirin a day. The progesterone I have to take twice a day for the first 13 weeks. So, I take it around 10AM and 10PM everyday. It makes me EXTREMELY sleepy and loopy. I am looking forward to not having to take that everyday.

Thanks to those of you that are praying for us! I've got a ways to go...but things are looking good this time around. Keep those prayers coming!!

Coming this fall...Baby Thomas #2!!!

We are excited to announce that Baby Thomas #2 is on the way! My official due date is 10-2-10.
I wanted to capture a few dates/details to remember later on down the road:

Wednesday, 1/20/10 - 1st positive test!
Thursday, 1/21/10 - 2nd positive test!
Friday, 1/22/10 - 1st Quant, HCG 50.04
Monday, 1/25/10 - 2nd Quant, HCG 223.28 (Numbers going up!! Yes!!)
Thursday, 2/4/10 - 1st u/s (saw gestational sac and yolk sac)
Monday, 2/15/10 - 2nd u/s (saw strong heartbeat, 140bpm!! Yes!!)

As most of you know, we've had multiple miscarriages...so we are cautiously optimistic. We never even saw the gestational sac or yolk sac with the pregnancy in August. So, we are excited that we have gotten this far with this pregnancy. They say that your chances of miscarriage go way down once you see the heartbeat.

My next appt. is tomorrow, Tuesday, 2/23/10...hoping that everything checks out ok!

Myrtle Beach Marathon 2010...or so we thought...

Jason, Ian, and I left Thursday after work to head down to Myrtle Beach for the 2010 marathon...or so we thought. Jason was planning on running the half. Little did we know what we had coming. I had heard talks of snow for the upstate...but didn't expect any at the beach.

Well, I was wrong. Not only did it make it to the beach...we got 3-4 inches while we were there. The snow ended up causing the marathon to be canceled. Jason was bummed...but we still had a really fun weekend together as a family.

Friday, we got up and headed to our favorite breakfast place...Nibils. We eat there in the summer...and it is soooo good. When me, my mom, sister, aunt, and grandma were down there in December, Nibils was closed. So, I wasn't sure they would be open...but we called just to check...and they were. We were so excited!

After Nibils, we went to the Ripley's Aquarium. We loved it! I always love seeing the animals of the sea. Ian loved it as well. We got to see all kinds of fish, sharks, and sting rays...we even got to pet the rays!!

After Nibils, we headed back to Mel and Phil's place, a couple at our church who let us stay in their place for the weekend. They also offered to let us ride their golf cart around...so we took it for a spin. We had to go to the beach at least once while were there. We got out there, saw a frozen jelly fish, walked a few minutes, and then Ian was ready to go back to "Mr. Phils" house. He, well, all of us were FREEZING.

We chilled out at the house for a little while, and then we went to eat at one of my other favorite restaurants...the Chesapeake House. They have the most awesome hush puppies, cinnamon rolls, and fish stew.

We then came back to the house...and literally, we shut the door and the snow started coming down...and coming down hard. Snow at the beach was definitely a first for all of us. After we put Ian to bed around 9ish...Jason and I got on the couch with a blanket and watched the Olympics Opening Ceremony in Vancouver as the snow was falling right outside the window. Talk about romantic and how appropriate for the winter olympics! ;)

Jason was waiting on the race officials to make a call about the race, which they were supposed to at 10pm. Finally, close to 11, they canceled the race. Jason was not a happy camper, but it was all good...we got to sleep in and go back to Nibils!! ;)

After Nibils on Saturday, we headed down to the beach. We built a small snowman on the beach...definitely another first for us!

After we built the snowman, we headed back to Sparkle City. The ride back was pretty, but we could see it getting less and less as we drove back from it melting so quickly.

The only other negative to the trip, other than the race being canceled, was that Ian and I have come down with the crud again. I don't know why my sinuses have been so active this winter. Usually, I get about 2-3 sinus infections a year. However, I have had 3 already this winter. Ian coughed the entire ride down, as well as every 3-4 minutes ALL night the first night we were down there. That was WITH cough medicine. I am not exaggerating. It was quite a miserable night for all of us. The second night was a little better for him...but not for me. That is when I noticed that my sinuses were acting up again. Ugh. Thankfully, Jason is better...he had a bad sinus infection earlier last week. Between Ian and myself, we visited several pharmacies on the way down and while we were there to get cold medicines. Hopefully, this mess will be short lived.

So, despite the sickness and marathon being canceled, we had a nice little getaway! I love my boys...and it was just a nice time to get to spend with them. Here are some pics from our weekend:

Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs

I think we have watched this movie 4,059,643,543,623 times. It is currently Ian's favorite movie. It is quite funny! I admit, I love it too. This was actually the movie we saw when I took Ian to the theater for the first time. He did so well when we saw it in the theater...he sat quietly the entire time!

Our DVD player remembers the point at which you stopped watching it before and will pick up where you left off...so there are some nights where it's Ian's bedtime and we'll just stop the movie before it's over...and pick up where we left off the next day. He wants to watch it while he eats breakfast and then again at night. He even quotes one liners! Some of his favorite lines:

Buck: "Let's go buckwild!"

Sid: "I'm a lonely, lonely, loner."

Sid: "This is the end of Sid the Sloth."

Finally, when the credits start rolling, he HAS to dance to the song "Open the door, get on the floor, everybody walk the dinosaur!" If he's in his highchair and I'm in the bathroom getting ready, he yells for me to come get him down so he and I can dance to the song. It's quite funny what all you do as a parent...but I wouldn't change any of it for the world!
