Family Photo Shoot

I have been wanting some pictures of our family...so I asked Jeslyn Cash, who does an outstanding job, if she would take some pictures for us. Here they are:

"What safety knobs?"

Friday was a very scary day for me. I picked Ian up and came home just like any other day. Jason had gone camping with Bob...so I was home alone with Ian. Ian was in the den playing and I was cleaning up in the kitchen. I went to his room to clean up a little and heard Ian yell, "Mommy, are you?" "I'm in your room Ian." No response. So, I thought he was making his way to his room. After a few seconds, I said, "Ian, I'm in your room." No response. I went into the den...no Ian. I went flying into my room. No Ian. I went flying into my bathroom, screaming his name louder and louder...No Ian. I went flying back to the kitchen and noticed that the door to the garage (which was up) was open. I FREAKED OUT! I went running out the door yelling his name and as I went flying around to the front, there was a man parked in a black SUV in front of my neighbors house and he was pointing towards my front door. I went running down our sidewalk and saw Ian. I was so RELIEVED! The man said that he was going to walk up to him, but didn't want to scare him. It was such a mixture of emotions. On one hand, I was glad that the man was looking out for him, even though I have no idea who he was. On the other hand, it scared me to think that this man could have lured Ian to his car and taken off with him.

Needless to say, that episode took about 25 years off of my life. When I found him, I felt relieved...but at the same time, wanted to kill him for going outside without mommy or daddy. He said he was looking for me, and I believe him...but I gave him a good lecture about not going outside without mommy or daddy.

Well, Sunday, I had run to the restroom and when I came back...he had the front door open standing in the doorway.

SO, I decided I would go and get safety knobs for the door knobs after work today.

I bought 3 and I put them on as soon as I got home.

Within ONE HOUR, yes...one hour...I heard this loud POP. Ian had successfully popped one off. So, it's back to the drawing board. Guess we're going to have to invest in dead bolts up high!

Healthy 2 year old!

Yesterday, I took Ian for his 2 year check up. 2 YEARS! Wow...time flies!

Ian got a good report, and is a healthy little two year old boy! Praise the Lord!

Dr. Hicklin looked in his ears and said that his tubes are still in place and that his ears look great. He also checked his height (34.5 inches tall) and weight (30 lbs.). He said he was in the 50% for height and 75% for weight. Translation = he's solid.

They also pricked his finger to see what his hemoglobin level was since it was low last time. Dr. Hicklin was a little concerned about anemia last time and told us to focus on getting more red meat in him as well as a multi-vitamin with iron. Jason and I have really tried to expose Ian to all foods, but have been making sure he gets some servings of red meat periodically. If you'll remember this post, his level last time was 10.5. This time it was 11.3...so our efforts paid off!

He was such a good boy at the doctor's office too. He only whined twice, once when Dr. Hicklin went to look in his ears and once when he used the tongue depresser to look in his throat.

My mom is a nurse there and as a treat for doing so well, she blew up a latex glove. Ian thought that his blue "bwoon" was the GREATEST thing.

TEA party

Ok...so I know I am a blog slacker and that this post is old news...but I haven't had much time to blog lately.

On April 16th, Jason took Ian to the TEA party at the Beacon. I had to run some errands to finish getting ready for his birthday party on Sunday the 19th, so I wasn't able to join them.

They finished off the night with chocolate ice cream!
