Two stories of the not so fun side of parenting:
1.) Last Saturday, I had taken Ian's clothes off to feed him lunch, peanut butter and jelly. After lunch, I changed his diaper and just laid him down around noon in his diaper...which I have done several times before.
Well, he babbled and babbled and then it got to be like 12:30 and I was like, "WHY is he not going to sleep?"
Then, he started crying...so I walked in his room to find him standing up at the end of the crib pointing to the floor. It was dark in the room since I had drawn the curtains...but I squinted to see what he was pointing at...his DIAPER...on the FLOOR! At first, I kind of laughed and thought ha ha Ian is standing buck naked in the crib...hope he didn't pee!
Then, he started crying and pointing inside his crib. So, I squinted again to see what he was pointing at...a nice big brown pile of poo...right in the middle of his crib.
I was not exactly happy...but didn't really freak out...UNTIL...I noticed that he had poo squished all in between his fingers...smushed on the side of the crib...on the bumper pad...EVERYWHERE. Not to mention still some between the cheeks!
The good news...he had his pacifier in, so I don't think he ate any...at least I hope!!
Sorry for the details...but this is a must capture and look back on moment.
SO, anyways, Jason cleaned up the room while I took Ian to the bath tub.
2.)I got a call today from daycare around 3:30 saying that I needed to come get Ian because he had vomited all over his mat.
So, I left work and went to pick him up. He was pale...but didn't seem like he was at death's door.
I got him home and gave him some juice in hopes of avoiding dehydration. He played around a little...and then out of nowhere he came over to where I was sitting on the couch and just started crying like he had really hurt himself. I was like, "Ian it's ok, what's wrong?!" I picked him up and he laid his head on my shoulder and cried.
THEN, it happened...Ian became a fountain...vomiting all over my left arm, down my outfit, all over our leather sofa, and of course all over him.
Have you ever had one of those moments where you're not sure what to do first...well that was me. I got up as carefully as I could. I sat Ian in the floor, looked at my couch, looked back down at him, started towards the bathroom for towels, turned around and decided that Ian was my top priority...not cleaning up the mess.
So, again, I carried Ian to the bathroom with my arms extended and put him in the tub.
After I got him out, I sat him in the high chair with some juice and finally cleaned up the mess...which took awhile.
I gave him some saltine crackers, a little soup, pedialyte and Tylenol, bathed him and put him to bed. Hopefully this is a 24 hour bug!

Feel better soon, Ian!
oh, Julie! I had to laugh...sorry! Never had the diaper thing, but can sympathize with the vomit. Thanksgiving Day....in Charleston with the inlaws. She throws up all over me and we were in a deep recliner and everyone else was in another room. I was screaming "help!" b/c I didn't know what to do! I totally know that feeling! Hope Ian feels better soon!
Thanks Jessie! Thanks Casey!
Hi Julie, it's Malyn from work. I check in on your blog every now and then since you had sent it when you and Dodi were doing P90X.
I heard the sickness passed on to you. :( I hope you and Ian feel better soon!!
Kaelyn has done the diaper thing, but thank goodness just peed in her crib! All of the other parts of parenting are so rewarding .... it makes these icky parts worth it! ;)
