No...I'm not pregnant.
Ian told me twice today when he did a stinky!!!!! What? This doesn't excite you? ;) Boy, it does me! This is a big day at the Thomas household! It's a milestone in my book when they actually start acknowledging these things!
Today, we kept Ian home because he was running a fever and was not feeling well. I worked from home and watched him this morning and Jason took the afternoon shift, while I went on into work. Last night, he was running a fever of 103...and this morning it was 102, coughing, runny nose, etc. We started him on an antibiotic Sunday since he has had this mess for about 2 weeks now. Haven't really checked his temp tonight, but he doesn't feel as warm and is acting like he feels a little better. Hopefully, we've turned a corner today and he starts feeling better real soon!
Anyways...back to our good news! At one time today, Ian was standing in front of the TV watching Disney and I could tell he was concentrating and "working" on something! Within a few seconds, he looked over to me, put his hand on his bottom and said, "incky". I was thrilled! He did this twice today! The first time I thought, coincidence. The second time, it was like "YAAAAAYYY! You did a stinky!!" Did I just get excited over poop? Yep...and probably will a few more times as he continues to learn.
So, what did I do after work? Went to Target and bought:
No, I don't think Ian is ready to use a potty quite yet...but I don't think it'll be long...and we'll need it when he is ready. So, I went ahead and bought one. I can hear several people saying, "don't rush", "he's too young", "boys don't learn until 3", etc etc. I know...it's early...Ian is only 18 months. However...I think each child is different...and it's all about your child and how ready they are. Ian is a smart boy (I know I am biased...but it's true) and picks things up fast. Not saying I'm going to start Ian in pullups tomorrow...heck...I still have a couple of boxes of diapers left that I am going to use. However, I AM going to start emphasizing terms and heading in the direction of potty training.
Wish us luck!

Yea!!!! Girl I'd be excited too! That is progress because he is acknowledging that he did a stinky. We call it a stink stink. hee - Go Ian!
I know how you feel!!! Parker started using the potty at 17 months old, yes 17 months old!! Obviously not all the time, but occasionally, especially at night while i was making his bath, we'd put him on the potty and 9 times out of 10, he would go. So, yes, this is a good sign for Ian & definintely try what YOU think you're child may be ready for. It can't hurt is what I always say - if he goes, he goes, if he doesn't, he doesn't. But the more he's comfortable with it, the better you'll be in the long run. We started pull-ups during the day about 22 months and he did great with it. Many times he would go #1and #2 in them, but sometimes, he would start to feel the urge to pee and go on the potty. Now, we've been in underwear almost 2 weeks and he turned 2 in July, so it's about your son and what he's ready for. Good Luck!!!!
