James Island Festival of Lights

Yesterday, me, Ian, my mom, my sister, and her two girls, decided that we were going to ride down to James Island for the Festival of Lights. The husbands had no desire to go...so it was just us ladies (and Ian)! It was a spur of the moment kind of decision, but we've been wanting to take the kids to see Christmas lights...and have heard such good things about the Festival of Lights on James Island.

After having been, it is well worth the drive in my opinion!

We got to the park around 6:30PM last night and the line of cars was unbelievable. However, it really didn't take long to get into the park. We rode through a short piece of the park and then parked in Lot C (because Lot A and B were already full).

We got out and purchased train tickets first thing. At 7:15, the next available train ride time was 8:50PM. Although that seemed an eternity away at the time, we filled the time with roasting marshmellows, listening to the men's choir, drinking hot chocolate, and going through the gift shops.

Before we knew it, it was time to ride the train. And I must say, the train ride was the highlight of the night. Ian loved it! It was actually a nice long ride. Well worth the $3! Ian definitely did not want to get off the train though. He cried and cried...and kept saying "Choo Choo Chain"!

After the Festival of Lights, we stayed in the Holiday Inn Riverview. We were all nice and cozy in one room! Each kid had their moments, but overall, it was actually a lot of fun!

It was really fun when Ian woke up crying at 5:30AM! haha I pulled him into bed with my mom and I and tried not to wake Erin and the girls in the other bed. However, Ian never went back to sleep and my mom and I couldn't keep very quiet from laughing at him. At about 7:30AM, we threw Ian in the bed with Erin and the girls. They LOVED that! ;)

We headed back to Sparkle City around lunchtime after eating breakfast in the hotel's restaurant in the top of the hotel and then walking on the beach for about an hour. We had to get back in time for Emm'a Christmas play tonight.

It's been a busy, but fun weekend.

The pictures are in reversed order, but I have uploaded a few pics from our weekend below:
