3 hour Glucose test

Yesterday, I had to go for my 3 hour Glucose test since I failed the 1 hour test on Monday.

I took the following book with me to help pass the time:

I have had several friends recommend it and have had it for months...I have just not had the time to sit down and start reading it. So, I thought my 3 hour Glucose test would be a good time. It was...I got about 120+ pages read...and I can honestly say, I'm hooked. It is an easy read and a great story..."a historical romance novel set in the 1850s Gold Rush in California. The story is taken from the book of Hosea from the bible. Its central theme is to portray the redeeming love of God towards sinners."

So, I got to the doctor's office around 8:15. The first thing they did was prick my finger to obtain my fasting sugar, which was 85. Then, I had to drink the lovely orange Glucola drink within 5 minutes and the waiting started. I was told to not leave the building and come back to the lab at 9:35, 10:35 and 11:35. So, I started reading my book and then at 9:35, I went back for my 2nd stick, which was 137. It had to be less than 190. The second stick went up 2 pts. but had to be less than 165, so it was still ok. The third stick was 115 and had to be below 145. Yeah! I passed! Dr. Pereyo said that you really only have to be below range with 2 of the draws. They allow 1 elevated draw and still consider you passing.

I'm glad that is behind me. Not that developing gestational diabetes is the end of the world, but it's just one less thing to have to worry about during the last couple of months of pregnancy.

Thanks for all the prayers and encouragement!

Now, I need to finish the book!
