I picked Ian up from Holly's today shortly after 4 to take him to his first dentist appt. I walked into their house...and all 6 children (her 5 + Ian) were sound asleep in their den. It was like a big slumber party...it was nice and dark in there and they all had their blankets...it was SO sweet! Shoot, it made me want to grab a blanket and curl up on the couch and take a nap myself! lol
Will woke Ian up...at least enough so that I could get him to the car. He was so sleepy and out of it. As soon as I drove off, he was out again!
I was like...hmmm...this is going to be a rude awakening when he wakes up and realizes he is at the dentist's office! haha However, it was not as traumatic as I had anticipated. He whined for a few seconds when he first woke up after we got there...but then did a quick turnaround. As I was putting his flip flops on to go in, He pointed at some random guy walking in and asked, "Is that Mr. Thirsty?" Granted, "Mr. Thirsty" was the name Amy, our hygienist, had given to their tool that helps rinse your mouth during your dentist visit, and not a real person...but at least Ian remembered and associated where we were with what Amy had mentioned to him when we were there for my cleaning about a month ago.
After we got inside, he picked up a toy and started playing.
Then, it was time to go back. You could see a little bit of fear on his face...but he never cried. He did really well! Amy was out sick today, so Ms. Nan cleaned his teeth instead.
Then, Dr. Ellett came in and checked him out:
He got a good report and Dr. Ellett gave him a high 5! They even gave him some goodies, which he LOVED...a "CARS" toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, a bright green wrist band, stickers and a gift certificate to Baskin Robbins!
He thought he was the stuff. I'm so proud of how well he did!
